Ways to Update Your Home for Spring
Hi, y’all! I posted this Spring Refresh post last year, and I wanted to give it an update and repost! I know times are crazy right now, but think of it as a time to do some home projects and update some things that you’ve been wanting to but haven’t had the time.
The season change from Winter to Spring is one of my favorite times of year. The days are longer, moods are brighter, and the flowers are blooming. This time of year always makes me want to give everything in my life a little refresh. Not only does the warmer weather make me want to participate in the infamous “spring cleaning”, but it makes me want to update and refresh my home as well. I’ve compiled a list of easy ways to liven up your home for Spring!
Greenery & Flowers
Adding greenery and flowers to your living space is a sure fire way to add a touch of Spring into your home! Fresh blooms brighten up a space like none other. I love having flowers and greenery on my dresser, bar cart, breakfast table, and even in my kitchen (if counter top space allows for it). If you don’t have much of a green thumb feel free to get some faux flowers/greenery!
Frames
Swapping out frames is an easy way to change the feel of a space. Some frames may be more expensive than others but in comparison to other home updates this project would be a drop in the bucket! I am always amazed at how different a piece of art will look depending on the frame. Try it out!
Re- Accessorizing
This idea is free… yes, free! If you aren’t looking to spend money, but want to update your living space a little, try re-accessorizing your coffee tables, shelves, and consoles. By swapping accessories and re-styling these spaces they will feel new to you! You may have accessories you have forgotten about because you are used to seeing them in a certain spot. Styling surfaces is one of my favorite parts of a design and can really make a space feel complete.
Throw Pillows & Blankets
Throw pillows and blankets are probably the easiest way to update your space! By adding new pillows you can completely transform your space. Even swapping out pillows throughout your home can make your space feel new and fresh again.
Throw blankets are another great and inexpensive way to add a pop of Spring color to your living spaces! I use throw blankets all year long but if you don’t use them during the warmer months then you can always put them on a bench, chair, or basket as an accessory.
Hardware
Whether it’s in your Kitchen, Bedroom or Living Room, hardware can make a huge impact on the look of your room. Maybe your pieces have standard hardware on them and you want to add something a little more special, or you’re just ready for a new look! Try swapping your hardware and see how different the room can appear.
Towels
One of my favorite things to do for the season change is to switch out my towels in my Kitchen! I personally feel like kitchen towels get kind of gross after a few months of use so I tend to throw them out and start fresh every couple of months. I love adding a little flare and personality through dish towels. I’ve never been a huge themed decoration person, so I don’t necessarily buy seasonally themed towels but I do gravitate towards different styles and colors depending on the time of year. There is also no better luxury than fresh bath towels, so use this time to freshen your bath towels and add a few new beauties to your linen closet.
Paint/Wallpaper
If you are looking to do a little more in depth project, re-painting or adding wallpaper is a (relatively) easy way to change the look and feel of your home. Painting can be as simple as touching up your molding so it is fresh white again or giving your most loved rooms a fresh coat of the same color. A fresh coat of paint can make a house feel new and updated even if you don’t change anything else. If you are looking to really switch things up, look into changing the color of your walls completely. If you aren’t sold on doing so in a main living area, try a Bathroom or Guest Bedroom first to get your feet wet. Another fun tip is to paint the ceiling a fun color to highlight colors in your decor, this is a great way to spice up a space!
As you all know, I am a huge wallpaper fan. For a while it was “out of style” but I’m so glad it’s back! Wallpaper is one of my favorite additions to a space because it adds so much character on it’s own. Try wallpapering a Powder Room or Mudroom if you are unsure at first! Since we’re all stuck at home for a little while this would be the perfect time to try some projects around the house.
